The reason for waiting is that the process begun during the qigong practice continues afterwards, even though you stopped moving, the qi set in motion is doing a particular job.

Eating is a different job, and requires a lot of chi to manage digestion.

From Tao perspective, everyone has a destiny, their xin (heart mind, which incudes the 5 body spirits) is the expression of it. But not everybody realizes their destiny, due to fragmentation and confusion, distraction and diffusion, here in the physical plane.
