Interesting piece, would like to know source of your “word doc”.

Thanks (AGAIN!) snowlion for an excellent article, I may post it on my articles page.
I agree with the writer completely as far as he goes – tolerance and multi-religion participation is a workable reality in ordinary cultural life in China, and so can be elsewhere. I support eclecticism as the “let 100 Schools BLossom” approach.
But he does…[Read more]

Michael Winn replied to the topic The Four Denials of Buddhism – and an unspoken 5th? in the forum Philosophy 19 years, 1 month ago
Fajin,
Please don’t take any of these comments as reflecting on whatever practices you are currently experimenting with. I am merely trying to raise consciousness about the pernicous subtle effects that religious belief can have on development of the Self.

In the West, Buddhism – which is a misisonary religion (Taoism is not) – has spread many techniques through its various branches. But just because modern westerners “shop” amongst Buddhist techniques doesn’t mean that they buy into or even know of its ultimate premise denying the development of the Self or its innate right to exist, even in its…[Read more]

Thanks Fajin,
The passage you’ve posted pretty much sums up my understanding of the foundation of Buddhism, regardless of its many cultural forms, but I wanted it to come from a practicing Buddhist. It confirms that there is a Fifth Denial, the Denial of Selfhood.
Whenever I try to point this out to Bagua, that Buddhism is fundamentally an…[Read more]

Lao Tzu often uses the term “ling” or “soul” to describe the unfolding of the Tao, and also refers specifically to the po soul. So I am not clear as to what you are trying to generalize here.
Immortality does not imply “separation” or “duality” – it is part of the fabric of the Tao. Just as “individualized” phyusical human body-minds are…[Read more]

I met a woman once who claimed to have visited the cities beneath Shasta, also claiming lemurian heritage.
She was most UNimpressive in her presence and spiritual insight.I am open to accepting that certain human life forms migrated into the earth’s astral during past periods of dramatic change, such as we may be heading into now. Other…[Read more]

It seems you share the same mindset about modern science that Intelligence does: that psychic data has to be identical to sensory data in its method of validation.
If you believe western empirical science, based on sensory measurement is the only ultimate validation of anything, you should stick to it. And use it as your guide in life. I wish…[Read more]

This is just Thomas Cleary using Buddhist mind-terms to translate Taoist alchemy, qhich are usually chi-based in their descriptions using the continuum of jing-chi-shen. Real Knowledge would be jing, “Conscious is shen.

Fajin,
Here’s your original post that prompted my reply:——–
>Yuan is yin or prenatal. Postnatal is yang. Primordial is Wu Ji, or stillness, the void (macrocosmically), yuan shen (microcosmically). In the microcosmic sense, ie. ourselves, we attempt to return to our primordial nature. That is the final goal of Daoist and Buddhists.…[Read more] -

Nice post.
But to clarify my position, I am not taking strict Southern School approach, there are mixtures of the two.
I am just trying to make a point about approaching Tao from PROCESS (of interacting yin-yang-yuan chi fields) point of view vs. STATE OF MIND point of view that focuses on stillness as final and absolute GOAL.

I suggest you experiment and find out. Just ask your jing shen, or perhaps your original spirit if its communicating with you. They will warn you if its to be disastrous.Have fun,
